CONCEPT
The aim of this project was to familiarize ourselves with a quick return mechanism that converts rotary motion to reciprocating motion with one stroke being faster than the other. The mechanism was to be manufactured using laser cut wood and fasteners.

DESIGN/FABRICATION PROCESS
The team began the fabrication process by performing background research on quick return mechanisms, creating a preliminary hand sketch of the quick return design, iteration and modification of the model using Solidworks and finally, assembly of the laser cut parts to create the final product.

RESULT
The assembly of the mechanism was done similarly to how it was planned in the design stage. However, a few modifications were done to improve the functionality of the mechanism. The design was assembled using three fasteners; glue,screws, and washers.
